How do you turn city flags into a huge public art project?

Art & About Sydney sent out a call, asking people across Australia to send City of Sydney their responses to one simple question: what if? Answers came in from children as young as four, through to people in their eighties.

The response included thousands of optimistic, thought-provoking, playful and occasionally strange questions.

‘What if ten words could change the world?’

‘What if greed didn’t exist?’

‘What if there are new colours yet to be revealed?’

‘What if love is temporary madness?’

We designed 100 of the most thought-provoking, engaging and original responses, displaying them on street banners across the city and neighbouring villages.
